This was actually a sequel to a movie that came out a few years back that I remember wasting my money on at Redbox. From what I perceived, the first movie is a "found footage" film? Apparently, the sequel to that trainwreck is the CAST from this found footage film at a horror convention giving a haunted tour of an old theater.
